Some companies fail to recognize and to effectively develop front-line supervisors’ safety competency as a critical component in the promotion of the safety performance. Supervisors have the greatest opportunity on a daily basis to implement strategies and actions to have a positive impact on safety performance and the bottom line results. Many incident happen or become catastrophic events because adequate supervisor safety competency is not available at the right time and right place to prevent them from happening or to reduce or mitigate the impact. Companies with exceptional safety performance understand that safety is a function of the line organization: management and supervision at all level. This session will explore the knowledge and skills necessary for supervisors to be effective players in achieving excellence in safety performance and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals Safety Trained Supervisor certification.
