Sustainability has become a very important part of business planning. It is much more than environmental stewardship alone.  The paper will cover the “Triple Bottom Line” of sustainability and some principles, ideas, and strategies of how to reap “profits” on the Triple Bottom Line.  Businesses of all sizes can learn some of the measures that they can take to make their business more sustainable.

An interesting example of achieving sustainability is the use of Class 1 Underground Injection wells.  It is useful to understand why the  use of this technology has experienced growth while other disposal technologies have been in decline. Whether or not a company has a need for captive or commercial underground injection facility, this example helps crystallize the meaning of the elements of sustainability.
