OSHA's Revised Walking and Working Surface Standard

OSHA published a major Final Rule to update its General Industry Standard for protecting employees who face slip, trip, and fall hazards on walking and working surfaces. The OSHA Final Rule impacts about 7 million general industry workplaces and more than 100 million employees in the US.  This session will identify the major changes to OSHA’s Walking-Working Surfaces Standard. The session will include discussion of the:
  • New and updated rules for ladders, stairways, railings, handrails, scaffolds, and dockboards
  • New requirements for personal fall arrest and fall protection systems
  • New OSHA safety training requirements for employees
  • Changes for powered platforms, vehicle-mounted platforms, and manlifts
  • New fall protection Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
  • Impact of these changes to other OSHA requirements
