Basic overview of hazardous household products and their identification based on their characteristics. We will look at common household products found at your typical collection event, how their managed, segregated, and ultimately disposed of. We will cover the basic DOT and RCRA classifications and characteristics and see where they apply to common household products. We will also see how we protect ourselves and the site through the proper use of PPE, work zones, and small spill response. Through this session we look to understand basic properties of common household products, know the proper management of hazardous household products, and understand how local collection events operate to properly manage household hazardous products.
