As of August 2015, Facebook continues to dominate the global landscape, accounting for almost 1.5 billion users. Facebook has also challenged the conventional wisdom that there are six degrees of separation between everyone on the planet, finding that it’s as few as 3.57 people.

What does this mean? It means there is an overwhelming opportunity to learn these new social networking concepts to propel your career forward. Learning to use social media can also increase the value and awareness of your HMM credentials, and be critically important for developing a professional safety net to help during career transitions.

This session will present social networking tools and techniques, including a focus on how to manage social media public perceptions during tragic environmental, health, safety, or homeland security incidents. We’ll also discuss the essentials of how to increase your professional niche amongst your peers using social media. Are you adequately leveraging your 3.57 degrees of separation to increase your professional network?

At the end of the day, these new communication methods are making past techniques obsolete. You have a unique opportunity to learn about your customers, connect with your audience, and network with your peers, and not just locally, but globally. Become informed on how to create meaningful relationships that generate leads, as well as increase your brand awareness in an affordable manner. Once you understand WHY social media is important for you and your organization, you can learn HOW to use social media for your exponential success!
