I propose to present an 8-Hour Hazwoper Refresher course at the annual AHMP Conference.
Background: As part of the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120 and 29 CFR 1926.65, persons who wish to maintain their certifications (8, 24 or 40-Hours of training) must attend an 8-Hour Hazwoper Refresher training course each year.
Audience: Includes all levels - Beginner, intermediate, advanced
Pre-requisite: Must have a current Hazwoper training course certification. Persons can attend without the pre-requisite training but may not be able to fully follow the course proceedings.
Course Overview:
This program will provide attendees with the requirements for their annual Hazwoper refresher certification. Topics covered may include any or all of the following:

Testing and monitoring; air monitoring and testing equipment
Safety rules
Regulatory update
Decision making exercise
Hazard evaluation
Site history exercise
Health and safety plan development
Personal protective equipment
Decontamination planning
Engineering, administrative and PPE control measures
Chemistry
Physical characteristics
Common toxic chemicals
Various case studies
Closing exercise
(Topics may not be taught in the order listed and depending on the audience, more or less time will be spent on these various topics).
