Aligning Environmental Regulatory Requirements with Healthcare Joint Commission Expectations

Healthcare providers are being challenged with establishing or maintaining an Environmental Compliance Program, which adheres to Federal, State, and Local regulations. The environmental impacts challenging healthcare today reside across multiple environmental disciplines e.g. clean air regulations, hazardous waste storage and disposal, regulated medical waste storage and disposal, underground storage tank(s) compliance, asbestos and lead abatement, Emergency Planning Community-Right-To-Know, as well as required employee environmental training(s).

The purpose of this technical session is to illustrate in a practical approach how to identify, manage and enhance compliance for hospital environmental impacts utilizing The Joint Commission methodologies of, Pro-Active Risk Assessments, Periodic Risk Assessments, and Plan-Do-Check-Act.
