In a time critical emergency response you cannot take samples and wait for analytical results.  Can you provide essential hazardous materials information with a basic field kit and good techniques?  This session will cover the Hazard Classification Procedure, a field technique used to determine Department of Transportation (DOT) hazard classifications of unknown materials.  Attendees will be able to utilize basic observations and chemistry techniques with a minimal amount of materials to classify unknown chemicals into their DOT classes.
