This fascinating tour will include the University of Nevada, Reno’s Applied Research Facility (ARF). ARF is a hub of research, innovation and outreach endeavors on campus and within the Nevada business community. The building is home to many offices and entities, including Environmental Health & Safety, as well as multiple startup companies and entrepreneurs affiliated to the University through the Nevada Center for Applied Research.

The ARF includes the Nevada Center for Applied Research (NCAR), an applied research and development technology center that serves to enhance the global competitiveness of Nevada industry by leveraging the physical and intellectual assets of the university. Located in ARF and under NCAR is the Nevada Advanced Autonomous Systems Innovation Center (NAASIC) and the Intelligent Mobility (IM) Initiative. The NAASIC is working to design, deploy and evaluate new technology related to robotics, artificial intelligence and autonomous systems (including unmanned aerial vehicles, driverless cars, underwater robots and advanced manufacturing systems). IM initiative is a coalition of government, industry, and academia working in the development of a user-centered, open-innovation, living-lab ecosystem for connected and autonomous vehicles in northern Nevada.
