Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management

The Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management (EHMM) course is an excellent educational program for environmental, health, safety and security (EHS/S) professionals. The course, which is managed by the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP), is a cross-training tool that helps EHS/S professionals quickly and effectively obtain knowledge in new areas as well as areas that have been added to their job responsibilities. It also helps those new to the profession gain a foundation and prepare for the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager® (CHMM®) designation examination. It does not guarantee passage of the CHMM® national certification exam.

The EHMM is designed as a broad introduction to the industry and provides instruction about laws and regulations as well as technologies and practices. It highlights topics and information hazardous materials managers need to know to better perform their jobs.

In order to sit for this exam, please apply at www.ihmm.org and register for the exam on this date at www.webassesor.com. Instructions on how to complete these activities are below:

1. Go to www.ihmm.org and select "MyIHMM Login"

2. Choose “new customer” and fill out information to create your MyIHMM account. After registering you will received a user name and password and you can login to your account (or login to your existing account)

3. To access the MyIHMM menu, click the black square with three white lines on the left side of screen to access menu

4. Choose “Apply for Certification.”

5. Click “Create an Application” underneath the credential you wish to apply for.

6. Complete all required elements of the application—you will be asked to provide the names and email address of two individuals as references. When you submit the application, an email will be sent to them to complete and electronic reference form.

7. You must also upload a copy of your transcript or diploma to the application.

8. Review your application and checkout.

As of July 27, 2016, please contact IHMM by sending an email to examinfo@ihmm.org and informing them that you are planning to sit for the proctored exam at the AHMP conference.

All registrations must be completed by August 25, 2016. Please note that you will be permitted to sit for the exam, however certification is contingent upon passing the exam and IHMM validation of your qualifications.
