Lean and EHS, 8 Wastes (not RCRA), 3 Questions

Tuesday, August 30, 2016: 2:30 PM-3:30 PM
Executive (Omni Shoreham)

Level of Course: Entry

As part of the introduction to Lean and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), the 3 questions that define whether something is “Value Added” will be introduced, and the 8 “deadly” (sic) wastes will be introduced
  • Overproduction
  • Waiting
  • Transportation
  • Overprocessing
  • Inventory
  • Motion
  • Defects
  • Intellect

Examples will be explored of what each means with respect to EHS, both internally and across the Enterprise (in many instances the cross-enterprise Lean opportunities are huge compared to the internal ones).

The “3 Questions, 8 Wastes” combine to form a quick and easily implementable process for evaluating Lean opportunities within your organization.

Several EHS processes will be talked through the 3 questions/ 8 wastes evaluation so attendees can go back to their companies and implement this process for Continuous Lean Improvement in EHS and beyond.
