Biographical Sketch: Timothy Carvana serves in the position of Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental Quality for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA). NFTA is the second largest transportation authority in the State of New York and the largest multimodal transportation authority serving the Western New York region. NFTA provides transportation services covering surface (bus & rail), two international airports, and the outer boat harbor. As Director of HSEQ he is responsible for the implementation of the Authority’s environmental and safety programs throughout the organization. His primary duties include directing and providing oversight the NFTA solid and hazardous waste management programs, verifying and ensuring compliance to both federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Mr. Carvana also serves as the Authority’s lead subject matter expert with respect to environmental regulations and represents the Authority as a liaison between federal and state regulators, specifically as related to the obtainment of permit agreements and corrective action negotiations.
