Biographical Sketch: Zach Hansmann is the Contractor Safety Manager at Michigan State University, and is currently managing the construction safety aspects of the Department of Energy's Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) Project at MSU. He previously served as the Environmental Coordinator for the University, where he was responsible for campus-wide compliance with asbestos, lead, and other hazardous material requirements. Zach maintains the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) designations, is a member of the Construction Safety Division for the Michigan Safety Conference, and is an authorized OSHA outreach instructor. He holds degrees from Michigan State University in Human Biology (BS) and Construction Management (MS), and is currently a Ph.D. student in Planning, Design, and Construction, studying the owner’s involvement in contractor safety.
