This large international manufacturer implemented an environmental management system (EMS) and became certified to ISO 14001 in 2010. At the time that implementation began, the facility had been through years of vacancies in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manager position, which made meeting compliance requirements a challenge. Though the facility did its best, no roadmap existed to help them understand compliance requirements and how to meet them. Through the EMS implementation process, improved business systems were developed to help the facility achieve compliance and beyond to be truly sustainable. In 2012, the facility was nominated for a global award recognizing excellence in environmental management.  In 2013, the Georgia Engineering Alliance awarded this project an Honor Award for Engineering Excellence.
