Monday, September 16, 2013: 2:40 PM-3:40 PM
Celebration 9 (Peabody Orlando)

Level of Course: Mid

Regulations governing the use of DEA controlled substances and chemical precursors must follow strict standards of management with little room for interpretation or organizational flexibility. In certain cases, it may not be known if a material is on the DEA watch list until procurement, and then the challenges begin at a detriment to your organization’s workflow and production.

This work will support EHS professionals who have hazardous materials management responsibilities through the following case study:

  1. Lessons learned from an extensive process analysis/process improvement project and key critical points that should be included in every program from cradle to grave, and;
  2. An overview for a robust controlled substance/chemical precursor management system based on existing resources to ensure proper compliance.
  3. The integration with key systems and departments (Human Resources, Security, Online Learning Management Systems, Procurement, and EHS) to coordinate and support the system.
