Biographical Sketch: Thomas R. Bernitt, CHMM, CSP, CMQ/OE, CQA retired as a Navy Captain with an extensive ordnance background in explosives and MEC remediation. Qualified as a Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, Mr. Bernitt participated in the Suez Canal clearance, numerous ordnance clearance efforts to include “Ugly Baby” in Fallon, NV, as well as the Gulf War of 1990-1. He later served as the Commander, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group ONE, responsible for all Navy EOD operations west of the Mississippi to the Arabian Gulf. Retiring in 2000, Mr. Bernitt continues to be active in the private sector MEC remediation industry currently serving as the Quality Control Manager for USA Environmental, Inc.
