Biographical Sketch:
Mr. Yurt is President and Founder of ISTS. He is responsible for development, execution and implementation of regulatory standards as well as employees training programs. He develops training materials including course outlines, lesson plans, student handouts, and audio visual aids. He serves as an instructor teaching OSHA, EPA, DOT and Department of Homeland Security topics. For the last 20 years he has been actively involved in safety management. Prior to starting ISTS, Inc. he was Safety Manager for Borden Chemical, Inc. Here he managed and coordinated the activities of staff including training, employee development, performance evaluation, contractor management and the establishing of goals and performance objectives for assigned departments. He also developed and implemented HSE programs/procedures and communicated with all levels of the organization to elevate the involvement and status of those programs and procedures. Prior to Borden, he worked as an EHS Engineer for the General Electric Company where he facilitated the development of environmental, safety and industrial hygiene processes directed towards preventing accidents, eliminating safety hazards and complying with corporate, state and federal standards. He provided technical guidance to operational division on all phases of the company's occupational health and safety programs. Gary has served over 28 years in the Fire Service both as a career and volunteer holding the rank of Fire Chief for 8 years. Since 2011 Mr. Yurt has been on faculty part-time at Eastern Kentucky University where he teaches a variety of safety management, engineering and practical topics and disciplines. In 2010 Gary provided expertise to the BP Oil Deep water Horizon Incident in the Gulf of Mexico.
