Biographical Sketch: PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Isom has 21 years experience in all phases of energetic material and gas cylinder management including: evaluation, removal, remote access and deactivation of unstable/explosive material. He has directed numerous on-site compressed gas cylinder remediation projects involving analysis, downloading, flaring, valve replacement and emergency containment.
In response to the need for an environmentally acceptable method to access compressed gas cylinders with non-operable valves, Mr. Isom designed several Cylinder Management Devices. (CMD) This device attaches to the exterior of the cylinder and allows the operator to drill through custom designed packing. Once the cylinder is safely breached the target gas is directed to a gas scrubber or flare without the risk of an uncontrolled release. Mr. Isom developed and is also the main instructor for CHESI’s Energetic Material and Compressed Gas Emergency Response Training Class.
Mr. Isom has served as project director on a large number of compressed gas cylinder remediation projects through North America, South America, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic and South Pacific Islands. These projects involved managing a wide range of gases including Uranium Hexafluoride, Pentaborane, Tetrafluorohydrazine, Anhydrous Hydrogen Cyanide, Fluorine, Dichlorodiethylsulfide (mustard gas) Phosgene, Silane, Butyl Lithium, Arsine, Ammonia, Chlorine and a range of other highly hazardous materials.
