A waste management specific environmental compliance audit conducted at your facility consists of a number of steps that will be addressed in the presentation. This includes the following:
- Environmental audit purpose
- Corporate environmental commitment or environmental audit policy
- What type of waste management audit could be conducted at your facility, i.e system or process?
- Will briefly discuss each audit type, benefits, and applicability
- System waste management audit
- Process waste management audit
- Pre-audit waste management questionnaire (typically covers hazardous, universal, solid, and special wastes)
- What to expect if you receive a questionnaire and timeline completion
- Waste management audit protocols, which includes the following:
- Opening meeting
- Actual audit walkthrough
- Audit locations identified in opening meeting
- Identify staff that should attend the audit
- Photographic documentation
- Recordkeeping review and document management evaluation
- Audit closing meeting
- Audit action item findings and recommendations
- Include due date and identify a responsible person to complete finding
- Provide documentation to audit team after action item is completed, which should include action taken and photographic verification that action was completed.
