Manage your Chemicals, Manage your Risk

In its simplest form EHS risk management centers on how to create a ‘zero accident’ workplace environment. However, EHS risk is actually much broader than this. EHS risk encompasses not only work place physical and health hazards, but also, OSHA and EPA non-compliance scenarios and emergency response/release situations. Chemical use, storage, processing, and transportation comprise a significant amount of this risk. Consider the sheer number of regulations directly associated with chemicals: air permits, NPDES permits, storm water prevention plans, hazardous waste contingency plans, EPCRA, OSHA Subparts H & Z, PSM, PPE, OELs, HazCom and many others. As the number of regulations a facility is subject to increases, so does the severity of EHS risk to the organization.

This presentation will provide tools and strategies that you can take back to your organization to minimize the risk associated with chemicals such as: chemical risk identification, assessment, and prioritizing goals and objectives to minimize these risks.
