The International Organization for Standardization if revising ISO 19011 to include not just quality and environmental management system auditing but also occupational health and safety management system auditing.   In addition to concepts already described in the US auditing standard (ANSI 19011S, which already included OHS), the new standard is including new concepts such as audit risk and risk based auditing.  The new standard, which in draft form is almost 70 pages in length, expands on the existing concepts of audit program management and auditor competency.  The release of ISO 14021 (part two on requirements for third-party certification auditing) allows the new ISO 19011 standard to concentrate on intenal and second party auditing.
