Preparing, Prevention and intervention for Workplace Violence-WPV Events/Situations at your Facility
Over the past several years’ business, public agencies and nongovernmental organizations- NGO and emergency responders have seen an increase in Workplace Violence events/situations. The phrase of “Going Postal “ is no longer relevant as an increase of WPV events have occurred at myriad of facilities. These include but are not limited to educational, high tech, response and recovery events, public agencies, social services and NGO. The Bay Area Environmental Training Center has been conducting an average of two WPV workshops per month with a focus on preparing, preventing and intervention for the past three years. This is due in part because of the effects of a down turned economy, layoffs, and globalization of business which is an intense stress on individuals and their families.
Lesson learned are that the clients have identified several areas of focus.
·         What are basic principles and techniques to diffuse difficult and hostile situations
·         How to recognize and control  your own feelings and reactions to difficult and hostile events
·         How to develop a plan to call for help/assistance and knowing when to implement the plan.
·         How to ensure a safe and secure workplace while minimizing a fortification approach.
Mr. Hall, a certified Crisis Prevention instructor will emphasize the basic tenets and techniques of preparing your workforce to approach potential workplace violence events/situations. This class will be interactive and utilize our experiences, expertise and case studies regarding workplace violence.
