Monday, August 25, 2014: 2:50 PM-3:50 PM
Celestin A (Hyatt Regency New Orleans)

Level of Course: Mid

Hazardous waste reporting requires a strong program framed by multi-state regulatory knowledge, defensible waste determinations, detailed facility & disposal programs, and robust data management. A program approach reaps continuous improvement benefits, justifying the costs of going beyond “just submitting biennial reports”. Yet, even this is riddled with challenges. Focus: challenges of minimal compliance (data acquisition, interpretation & management); the benefits of a CI program approach (enhanced compliance, less agency scrutiny, cost savings, and progress toward zero waste).

Significance of topic for attendees and key takeaways from the session:

Attendees will learn about common challenges of basic hazardous waste reporting and how one retailer overcame them and by year-after-year building on its program across all its fundamentals is now able to approach HW management proactively.
