Level of Course: Entry

This technical session will address the variety and abundance of smartphone/tablet applications available for EHS&S professionals. The ability to utilize our technological resources to the greatest extent possible can be quite beneficial in the EHS&S field today. EHS&S professionals can make more accurate decisions while being more efficient with their time. They can identify potential hazards, learn knew key information, and handle incidents more proficiently, while having all of these tools and more at the touch of their fingertips.

Currently there are numerous environmental, safety, emergency response, and industrial hygiene applications available for little to no cost. With the amount of time it takes to research information in a traditional sense, the applications can save time, money and potentially reduce the occurrence of incidents for a workplace.

To further promote the understanding and use of these applications, discussions of the variety of applications will be demonstrated during a chemical release, safety infraction, fire situation, tornado or similar example for a specific scenario. There will be opportunity for participants to download applications during the session.

Lastly, I will review the locations, names, manufacturers, uses and reviews of these applications. I will provide the class with handouts to direct them to the applications and their associated costs.
