Lessons Learned in Creating GHS Compliant SDSs

While GHS has been adopted across much of the industrialized world, it was only in 2012 that the United States adopted GHS.  Compliance deadlines mandate that GHS compliant SDSs and labels be completed by mid-2015.

This presentation will seek to assist Compliance managers with responsibilities for SDS authoring by presenting a series of lessons learned in the conversion of a global product line of products into the GHS SDS format.

In 2012, Mr. Wilkins was tasked with ensuring that the global product line (approximately 100 products) of Bestolife and RSR Corporations were compliant with existing international standards for SDS/labeling as well as converting the US products to the GHS system by mid-2015.

In this endeavor, Mr. Wilkins gained some insights into potential pitfalls associated with GHS conversion and will provide some helpful tips for others to utilize in their effort.  This session will also benefit EHS compliance managers who will be receiving new GHS compliant SDSs into their system over the next few months.
