Unilever is the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) worldwide Food Sector leader in sustainability:

A review by ERM as part of the existing EHS audit program provides an opportunity for each site to check that data reporting is being completed correctly, and fully prepares each site should the site be subject to a Deloitte Audit.

Review of key Unilever sustainability programs at each Unilever facility including data reported and credibility of this data.

Benefits

Adding sustainability was a complete win-win for Unilever for the following reasons:

  • Integrating sustainability into the Unilever audit program aligns this function with the Unilever goals and targets for sustainability performance improvement.
  • Unilever is now more confident with each facilities sustainability profile.
  • Unilever can now confidently make changes to each facility and plan capital improvements based upon verified sustainability profile information.
  • The sustainability reporting can be very demanding, and therefore requires more experienced auditors that can cut through details to see the “big picture” on resource usage at a complex facility.
  • Central to each project audit is to hold a 25 minute data reporting briefing with each audit team member to review Unilever Sustainability data reporting methods.  This raises the level of understanding and awareness of sustainability data verification techniques for the auditors throughout the Americas on the Unilever audit team, and familiarizes them with this new and exciting part of ERM’s business.
