GHS - Understanding its impact on OSHA HazCom Compliance

The Globally Harmonized System for the Classification & Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) is having a significant impact on the global regulatory community. In the United States, OSHA has announced that it is revising its hazard communication standard to adopt certain principals of GHS. For facilities that are striving to not only comply with OSHA but also to be best-in-class with their Safety Programs, understanding GHS and OSHA's adoption of it into the hazcom standard is critical. Even though the final rule for the revised hazcom standard has not been promulgated yet, facilities need to understand what it is and what it means well before promulgation to allow themselves adequate time to prepare.

All participants will recieve step-by-step instructions on how to ensure compliance with the OSHA's new HazCom standard. Specifically, issues such as GHS labeling formats, secondary labeling scenarios, GHS SDS, GHS hazard Classification and GHS pictograms will be covered. Additionally, strategies on how to revise internal HazCom training materials to comply with GHS will be provided. Finally, strategies on communicating the impact of GHS to the broader organization (i.e. upper management, etc.) will be provided.
