Biographical Sketch: Richie Spangler, CHMM has more than 23 years of hazardous, radioactive, explosive, and biological materials management, waste management, and environmental remediation experience. He has worked on projects from legacy jet fuel remediation and managing a RCRA Part B permitted facility to being a member of the EPA’s Columbia Shuttle Disaster Recovery Team. Currently, Richie serves as the Manager for the Shipping and Packaging Department at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, where he is responsible for the transportation program at the labs. His department ships hazardous materials, including nano, explosive, chemical, radiological, and biological materials. Richie has been training ES&H professionals for most of his career, including providing OSHA, hazardous and radioactive waste management, and hazardous materials transportation training. Richie is very involved in the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP), where he is currently serving as the organization's Treasurer on the national Board of Directors. Richie is also the chair of the Institute for Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) Nominating Committee.
